After using windows update and installing a few piece of software i also started seeing suddent BSODs that forced a reboot 3 or 4 times. Tried changing different BIOS options too.
Also updated BIOS to latest version to see if that helped and it didn't. At first there was a problem with the Ethernet port reported in device manager probably due to me using the windows update driver but that probably is no longer there under the new install.

I already did another clean install and the problem is still there even before a single update. It acts like it's shutting down and seems like it goes through the process but it just doesn't cut the power off to the motherboard, fans are still going and power light is still on. Installed OEM Windows 7 64bit Home Premium on it, ran Windows Updates a couple of times. In the middle of this mess i noticed that when i select shut down it doesn't shut down.
